Kindle to Roadrunner box, where's the box?

Took new Kindle Fire to computer store with new wireless router. He set it up with passwords, etc. and said when I got home to remove connections (including Roadrunner cable) to current wired router and connect to new wireless router. But first unplug the Roadrunner box. I said I don't think I have a Roadrunner box and he stated that I must have. I followed the cable under the floor to the basement ceiling across half the house where it connected to a black cable which goes to across the rest of the basement ceiling to my garage and then outside the house. I see NO box. What am I missing? Thanks. Also, is this the correct forum?

What is the make or model of the router? There should be a box that the Roadrunner technician installed in your home. Also there would be a cable line on the back of the modem running which you need to unplug and connect to the router. Then you will connect another wire to the computer or a laptop and then setup the router settings and then connect the kindle.
