The first thing to check is the BIOS, the option is enabled for Wake On LAN. Then, from Windows, you must enable the device (your network card) activate the Equipment. This is done by right clicking My Computer and click Manage. Click on Device Manager and double-click the network card. You will get a window with the properties of the card. In the Power Management tab enable the option Allow this device to wake the computer. Then in the Advanced tab in WakeOnLan, you put it to Enable.

there are some settings which may be helpful to you. to solve this, just try to go to Device Manager after that open the Network Controller properties by simply right clicking on Network adapters, after that switch off the Deep Sleep mode by Choosing the Power Management tab and unmark the “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” option. Here your problem is solve. Just try and Let me know if this is work for you.

Each time, including a laptop, you can not connect to Internet (Error 800) and discover that your network card is disabled. It turns out a network connection, or from the Device Manager and works fine, until you restart the system.

More fail-safe network card you will not be disturbed. Let me remind you, this is relevant only for laptops, desktops because only work on network and off for energy savings for them is not true.

it can also be a problem with card driver that works on Windows, a problem with the Firewall on your network that has the recommended restrictions would reinstall the card along with the Driver and whether continuous plane with a technician take or where bought the card.

If you have wireless internet connection, I am inclined to be a problem with the Ethernet card and RJ45 cable. Change the new cable and incidentally, I would install your drivers for the network card integrated with the installation CD of the plate. As if it could be a virus, such as power, but of course if it should not be your case as you have wireless internet connection. Those viruses that cause a Denial of Service (Refusal of Service) which prevents any internet connection and I do mean "any Internet connection," it's not your case.

I have the same problem with my all computers and just have to check whether both network card have same manufacture or not. how much i know vista is bit old so its mya be need an updated drivers but windows 7 is new so no need of any updates, but its both have the same problem, so its clearly shows that the problem is too old.
