Roaming profiles issue, changing server name on its own

I can't figure out the pattern to this, but after a couple days of a user profile being setup the use gets a message when they login claiming windows cannot find their roaming profile.

    The profile path is: \\server2\profiles\%username%.
    Redirected folders path is: \\server2\redirectedfolders\%username%.

The error message states that it cannot find the roaming profile and is logging me in with a temporary one.
We also have folder redirection setup for My Docs, Desktop, Appdata.
When this error comes up, folder redirection fails as well, logging this error:

Failed to apply policy and redirect folder "Desktop" to "\\server2\redirectedfolders\rjv\Desktop".
    Redirection options=0x80009211.
The following error occurred: "Failed to build the list of regular subfolders under "\\TERMSERV\redirectedfolders\rjv\Desktop"".
Error details: "The network name cannot be found."

Termserv is replaced by whatever workstation they are logging in to.
Workstations are all windows 7 pro, server2 is server 2008 sbs.

/confused. Why is it looking at the local workstation for the profile and redir folders shares?

Re: Roaming profiles issue, changing server name on its own

Before you begin configuring roaming profile, I have some advice here :
    • First install the same applications on your computer. You must make sure that the version of the application is the same on all machines and the path to this application is the same at the folder tree and at the letter the hard drive.
    • Now if your users are likely to use different versions of Windows you must make sure that the profile path is the same on all machines.
    • Avoid using Encrypted File System (EFS) with your mobile account.
    • Also do not store the profiles on a drive that uses NTFS compression.
    • Have a proper look on disk quotas.
