ShrewSoft VPN Client - Windows Logon

    Hi all,

I am new here, so please forgive me if I am posting the wrong place. After installing ShrewSoft VPN Client, the windows logon screen always goes directly to logon to the VPN client instead of just showing the different users who can logon to the computer. It irritates me always to have to click "switch user" and then picking my user account. Is there some way to configure ShrewSoft VPN client NOT to suggest logging on to VPN as default, but to just show user1, user2 and VPN-logon to choose from? It is very rare that we use the VPN but need to have it installed.
I have tried googling for hours without help.
We have Vista SP2 32 bit.

A big thank you to anyone who can help.

I found out some steps that can help you out, check the below comments:

To run Shrew VPN automatically or from command line (or remember password), create a text file in Notepad and add this line:

    cd C:\Program Files\ShrewSoft\VPN Client\
    start ipsecc.exe -r "configuration name" -u "user name" -p "password" -a

(without quotes), and save this file as 1.bat. Now when you run it, Shrew VPN will pop-up, connect and disappear automatically!! It's magic!!!

Thanks for the reply, but I am not sure a command line inside windows will change the way windows shows the initial logon screen with the different windows user accounts.
    Does anyone else have suggestions?

Check the Installing the Shrew Soft VPN Client pdf manual from here and see if that helps you out.

I found this thread via Google and had the exact same problem as the OP. I found a solution, so I'm posting it here so the next person how googles this problem will have the answer.

All you have to do is uninstall the ShrewSoft client, then reinstall it and during installation, be sure to NOT install the "Credential Provider Component" when offered. That's it.

For reference, I found this info on the ShrewSoft help mailing list archives, specifically these posts
