It’s interesting that there is so little mention of it in assorted news media this morning. I used to preach never click on links in Emails but gave up on realizing that people do it anyway. If using IE, then one should have the Status Bar enabled (bar at the bottom of the IE window). If you point to a link in a message such as yours, then the actual URL to which the link is taking you is shown in its entirety on the left side of the Status Bar. It's one of the reasons I don't like sites like TinyURL you don't know where you're being taken. And it's just as easy to use the link tool built into the forum software.

It's great to know that someone else feels the same way I do about this kind of thing. I can't remember ever going to a Tiny URL (or similar) address. AAMOF, even if a link looks real (or if the link is hidden but made by the forum software, holding the mouse cursor over the link usually displays the entire URL on the bottom of the page, and often won't go there if I don't like its looks. Or maybe I'm just paranoid. I hope this will clear your confusion thank you.
