Linksys E3000 is running 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz at the same time?

I’m having E4200 in that 2.4 GHz work too slow and when I reboot the router sometime it stop working. So I bought E3000 and I’m in fear whether I will going to face the same problem And I want to ask if I would not rename the 5.0 GHz then would it be connected automatically to the system and if I rename then should I rename both the channel and then connect with the 5ghz SSID will it work? Can anyone suggest me what to do

Hello, even I was having the same problem. You just need to give the different name. I’m currently using E3000 which is working without giving me any sort of problem with streaming with my laptop on the 5ghz and even there is no problem when I’m using both at the same time but its firmware is beta version which is dd-wrt and I’m still waiting for the non beta version.

Hello, if you’re using E3000 and if you having the problem with the 2.4 GHz channel. Then the problem might be due to streaming of an interface from microwave or a cod less phone you may even face the same issue with 5.0ghz channel when it get crowded. There might be some other source which is causing the problem. If DSL light is on then you router might not be having the problem it might be due to other source.

Hello, even I was having the same problem. You have to apply the separate ssid then it will automatically assign the channel to the device and there is nothi9ng wrong with the setup. After changing the name you would not came to know which one you’re using. You can even use WPA2+AES which will give you high speed but the connection will not be secure. You can even switch it to Intel 6300 which have three antennas and give you a large range of network.

I’m having E4200 and I’m having the same ssid and for different channel I had used different password so that I can able to connect with 5 GHz as I’m having the problem with the interface. When I search for wifi there are more than 10 networks visible to be on 2.4 GHz so I think so that might be the cause of the problem. And if you put the same name then most probably it will get connected to the 2.4 GHz. So you may try this to get rid from your problem.

Hello friends, as you had mentioned based on it I have little suggestion. 2.4 GHz has some problem with the range in e4200 router but it’s not a bad choice to use it and its too expensive. Just check the network is stable and is your router is getting heated. I need some feed back as I’m planning to publish the router buyer guide and now in my list E4200 is on the top till it not come up with any sort of problem.
