Centos 5 Server shows fsck.ext3 ERROR

I am having the Centos 5 Server and this is showing me some error which I am not able to understand. Actual error message is as below:
    fsck.ext3: Unable to resolve 'Label=/opt/server-conf/'
    Give root password for maintenance
    or
    press Control-D to reboot
To resolve this problem, I tried fsck –dvy but that was with no luck. It again gives me the same error message. Now, I am not able to understand that how can I resolve this problem. If anyone of you knows the way to get out of this issue then please let me know about that. I will be thankful to all of you.

I think that the problem that you are facing is with the partition and if you want to resolve the problem then you will have to repartition your hard disk as well as control the whole thing and please don’t forget to boot flag. Other thing that I would like to tell you is that kernel 2.6 just hold up SATA hard drive. Do you have kernel 2.6? I hope that repartitioning will resolve your problem.

I think that you will have to restart the restore process and that will resolve the problem for you. You might make use of the vm disk to do that. You will have to restore the mbr and generate the ext3 as well as additional file systems. Previous to restoring something make a file otherwise two and restart the VM guest and execute the fsck on partitions, mount/unmount, etc. That be supposed to offer you an indication if partitions are okay.

I have to preface this by saying that I am by no means a specialist. The error message "Unable to resolve" boot label = 'fsck.ext3 "makes me think that perhaps the entry in / etc / fstab for your boot partition is wrong. LABEL = / boot, the bar cannot be there. Is that the answer to your problem? I have no idea, maybe someone else with more knowledge could shed some light on it but it might me a place to start.

Re: Centos 5 Server shows fsck.ext3 ERROR

It has recently come out of this problem. I somehow managed to solve this. In fact, during the installation it had been mislabeled = \ boot to the boot partition, as it should have been LABEL = / boot. This caused a disaster when "fsck" originally ran during startup, it really was not able to recognize the boot partition by label name presence in "fstab", since the partition LABEL = \ boot never existed, what that was existing LABEL = / boot. I just corrected name tag with "e2label" utility to go on a "rescue" and it worked.

Re: Centos 5 Server shows fsck.ext3 ERROR

Guess what the reason for the error? The hard drive crashed or broken? Linux operating system damaged?? Please be quiet, in fact the only problem with selinux. Normally, when dealing with redhat kernel installed base of OS (Fedora, CentOS, RedHat), you will need to enable SELinux for the proposed security. If you do not change with time, so now the right time for him disabled.
