Network drive invisible to newly created user account on XP

Hope this is the right section...

We have a number of PC's on a local network that was setup by someone else.
We have a server that can be accessed throughout the network. On those computers it comes up as drive F:.
    It all works fine.

But now I created a new user account on one of the PC's, which is running Windows XP.
The problem is, this new user account can not see the F: drive.
    The first account however, can.

I'm confused and at a loss on how to proceed.

You must log in using the built-in Administrator account. (This account cannot be deleted). Boot up into Safe Mode (tap F8 when you switch on and a menu should appear giving you this option). When you have logged on (the password is blank by the way unless you know differently) you can then re-create Users for daily use.

But creating the account is not the problem. Does the account act differently if it is created while in safe mode?
the first account is the main account so it should be the administrator you are talking about.

I think that you need to have to set up a common user account to access the drive that you want. On both your PC and the target PC create an account with the same userid and password, enable file sharing on the remote PC, turn on Sharing for the resource, and add the account to the permissions to access this shared resource. On your PC log in under this account, go to My Networking, and make sure you can "see" the resource on the network under that Workgroup. Then you can go in and map a virtual drive for it.
