    How does VPN Works

I am looking for some info on virtual private network, its usage and application on the network. Basically it has been noticed that VPN's are not so secure to an extent. There are some news which showed cloud computing to far more secure and easy to configure in place of vpns. But still vpn is widely in practice and not many are opting to go for for cloud computing.

    Re: How does VPN Works

VPN is essential for those who want to provide their user a centralized location to access local network. The remote user here doesn’t matter where the location is, is authenticated to the network on the base of various network policies. It is for data security. Various encryption services work here to give maximum protection to the private network so that it must not be hacked or access by any unethical sources. A VPN can work actively on more than one network and today because of developed technology, various cross platform app support, enhanced hardware, etc has made VPN more active and easy. It has not become to access your printer attached on the local network out of office or just access of update a database. VPN reduces the limits of locations here. Enterprises can work on maximum places and with the help of VPN network can manage data locally. VPN works smoothly with regular internet which reduces the cost of going for a WAN network setup.

For an enterprise it became important to have a world wide network for expansion. Multiple offices cannot rely on the different technologies to connect with each other. Now this multiple locations are needed to be interconnected with each other, in a fast and secure way. If the connections are not secure, no company will invest for the setup. At this place a network which can be accessed worldwide, which is secure and which does not need complex technologies is a requirement. Here VPN plays the role. It is simply putting your office network on the web so that your users around various locations can connect, share files, access data, etc. VPN provides you a virtual private network, which is secured and routed via internet.

    Mechanism involved in VPN setup

VPN works on many or single mechanism which is need to be configured properly so that the data is not intercepted. There are ample of threats on the web and your unprotected network can be access easily. There are many ways to block interception via malware, virus, spoofing and other unethical practices. It is very important to strictly follow the proper protocol so that you can maintain secure identity on your setup. I had some list of protocols that are widely used and configured as per the usage.
    • IPSec: This is called as Internet Protocol Security. Now it is called as IPv6. The technology is active with IPv4 also and widely used today in many cases. You can say that this is one of the most common protocols which are used. This protocol in composition with others provides a better management of network over web.
    • SSL/TLS: This is called as Transport Layer Security. With the help of SSL/TLS you create a secure tunnel which is not easy to hack. Every individual you access the data enters via tunnel and the data travel from the same. It is far more secure.
