Right hardware for virtualization and cloud computing

The server performance is above average rise from some days. In contrast, the power consumption of server systems in terms of computing power has dropped tremendously. According to efficiently use the system performance, is the use of virtualization technologies essential. But virtualization also requires a deduced hardware that is specifically adapted to the new technology. This must be the main criteria, reliability and scalability, and also be easy to manage requirements. However, not only the server systems are the focus, but must also be designed for storage hardware for virtualization technologies.

At Dell, all belong to medium-sized businesses that have at least one and a maximum of 500 PC workstations, regardless of number of employees and turnover. Customers who run 500-1000 Clients swim in a somewhat unclear defined field between SMEs and Enterprise. IBM's definition, include companies from 50 employees (non-PC workstations) to SMEs. The limit for large companies is fluid, with the corporate customers and 1000 employees, exclusively operated indirectly through local partners. Larger companies IBM serves directly. HP subdivided by sales: customers, which allow the IT manufacturers up to 500,000 euros per year, belong to the category "Commercial" and therefore to the upper middle class. Anything less is classic SMB (Small and Medium Businesses) business. SMB customers are served exclusively by partners, customers from the commercial environment to 80 percent.

As colorful approach of the producer to the middle class is, at one point all agree: Virtualization is the key issue in 2011. Again and again, is the private cloud is mentioned, the basis of a virtualized infrastructure is yes. In contrast to the public cloud the data remains physically in the corporate data center. Is the cloud in its own data center ready for operation, can - according to the hardware supplier - IT team the departments within the company the necessary applications to provide better and faster. If required, access to the applications can bill also specifically and granular.

Regarding the types of servers that manufacturers specifically for the middle class will be offered by, once there is more disagreement. HP , for example, is still on the blade design and build this or even made. According to Ulrich Seibold, Senior Vice President distributor organization and SME customers in HP's Enterprise Business, HP dominates with 64 percent market share of the blade environment. Blades are the ideal approach for all scenarios, to the mainframe replacement. HP BladeSystem Matrix integrates all necessary components - servers, storage, networking hardware and management software - and combine the ingredients together in a housing.

HP BladeSystem Matrix integrates all necessary components - servers, storage, networking hardware and management software - and combine the ingredients together in a housing.
These enclosures (Enclosure) listen to the name c3000 or c7000 server blade and remove various HP ProLiant series like (x86 platform), or Integrity Superdome (both Itanium platforms) on. For this purpose, as required storage components, tape drives and switches packed into the same cabinet - Plug & Play in the server rack. All imported since 2009 Blades should be compatible with the housings. By Enclosure concepts can be particular to simplify the wiring of the systems. With the package there is a management software that allows all the components can be managed. The management suite should also be understood with servers from other manufacturers - if they are committed to open standards - and simplify the management of all components.
