Best tool for the wireless access

I am here to get an idea about the best tool that can be used for wireless access. I have tried to search it on Internet, but didn’t have any more information about it. Maybe because the explanation was not simple and I am not expert in this field. So I am posting here hoping that you guys will provide some information in simple language. Detailed explanation would be more helpful and anything regarding the topic would also be grateful. I am expecting your responses soon.

Wireless access to the Internet is essentially a practical and often low cost alternative to the (usually) more expensive cellular processes GPRS and UMTS. But often we do not know where is the nearest usable access point. But the use of such open access points is not always safe. There are some tools that help you to find wireless access points, they take advantage of optimal and safe to work on the foreign network. For wireless operators are also a few tools, for example, when suddenly appear unknown access points, or communicate through the admin overview maps an impression of the WLAN coverage. (Mha) Also I would like to suggest you not to engage without special security precautions in other wireless networks - even if they are explicitly approved for use by others. After all, it could be these hotspots, for example, with respect to systems that are just trying to make mature personal data by the log this traffic, or even a keylogger or other malware to infiltrate into the system. Likewise, other users of the wireless make direct attacks on your system.

The tool AirDefense Personal Lite offers help for home users. The free tool in the Lite version actually intended to evaluate, but already brings a lot of features. It examines the WLAN traffic places, warns of potential dangers, including phishing attacks, or sudden fluctuations in signal strength, and makes suggestions on how to respond. The freeware AirSnare brings a package of tools for monitoring the wireless network with. After the first start the program displays all found in the PC wireless adapter. These can then sit in a scan mode. Discovered the program a wireless signal, it tries to read the MAC address. This is then compared with known addresses. If the address is known, lists AirSnare it in the "Friendly MAC Addresses" on. An unknown address is considered as a potential intruder and end up in "Unfriendly MAC Addresses.

Airsnaire warns remote administrators when a new MAC in the network shows up. Once done, the program included AirMail. The Options menu allows an SMTP server and many receivers set arbitrarily. You can also customize the sender, subject and the message itself. The option to "Server Wait" tells the program how many seconds there were between sending each mail. Who wants to have a map of the coverage of its wireless networks or wireless networks in the surrounding area, previously had to resort to expensive tools. With KNSGEM now with a comfortable environment that brings together the various free programs and presents the results in a nice Google Earth view. Using Netstumbler or Kismet recorded information on GPS position and signal strength attainable access points can KNSGEM convert to KML files that can display using Google Earth. You have the choice as to whether the tool will only calculate the approximate position of an access point or spend an area where the access point is available everywhere. The configuration of the tool takes place - such as cumbersome - a text file .KNSGEM can also evaluate the fee-based WiFi Hopper tool generated data.

Sometimes you get the IP from a DHCP server , sometimes it is configured statically. Printer and file shares are depending on the network are used differently. Time we consider the network as trusted, sometimes you need strict firewall rules. Windows versions prior to Vista is no way to know, the network settings depending on which network you use to make differentiated. So you have difficulty setting the right options in each case by hand. This reasonably priced at just under $ 40 "Plug and Browse allows you to create a separate profile for each network. It can manage a variety of settings. Thus, for example, different Outlook accounts to use, IP, DNS and WINS are also automatically set as the Internet Connection Sharing and the Windows Firewall, and the most common browsers (IE, Firefox and Netscape) were obtained depending on the environment, the correct proxy settings. Plug and Browse can be used both for LAN and for wireless LANs.
