Re: Setup VLAN for Airport Extreme

    1. For a VLAN setup within your Mac OS X you need to know the administrator username and password. Now open System Preferences and choose Network from within the Internet & Wireless section. If the Network applet is locked then you need to double-click it and then provide the administrator username and password and press OK to facilitate changes.
    2. Once you have opened and unlocked the Network applet for enabling administrative changes now you need to pick the suitable network location with default options as AirPort, Ethernet and FireWire whichever you want also you can create new one.
    3. After you have highlighted the correct network location inside the Network predilections applet. Now produce a VLAN interface by clicking the gear icon that is there at the base of the windowpane and choose Manage Virtual Interfaces.
    4. You will able to see new window with two columns Interface and BSD Name now you need to choose New VLAN. Enter a name which you want for the VLAN inside the VLAN Name field. After that state the VLAN Tag that should be whole integer between 1 and 4094 and match the other network VLAN configuration. You need to make sure that the proper network interface is elected from the provided menu, now click on Create and then Done. Now you will able to see the fresh VLAN with the other network interfaces.

For VLAN setups you need to provide the username and password of the admin and need to enable the network applet which will be locked. I don’t think your Airport Extreme supports such thing to be done you can use the new Time Machine modem which might help you to perform the setup in better way and use your new internet connection on your system.

I think you can perform the setting using with Airport Extreme but I think you need to contact to apple that can help you to resolve your problem to setup the vlan for Airport Extreme in your system.
