    • The Speed is normally, the hardware firewalls are customized for faster reaction times, and hence handle supplementary traffic loads.
    • The Security of a firewall with its own operating system is fewer prone for hits. These in turn decrease the security risk. In accumulation, hardware firewalls have improved security manages.
    • No Interference box that is divided from other network mechanisms can be managed superior, and does not fill or slowdown additional applications. The box can be shifted, shutdown, or reconfigured with negligible interfering to the network

    Advantages
    • Manage access from Internet to the private network. Without a firewall, each server of the system itself exposed to attack other servers on the Internet. Therefore the private network security depends on "hard" to tell the firewall.
    • Manage access from private network to the Internet.
    • Allows the network administrator to keep out of the private network to non-authorized users (such as hackers, crackers and spies), potentially prohibiting entry or output.
    • The firewall creates a log in which records the most significant traffic passing through it.

    Disadvantages
    • A firewall cannot protect against attacks that are performed outside the operating point. For example, if there is a Point-TO-POINT to the Internet.
    • The firewall cannot prevent corporate data from being copied to floppy disks or memory sticks and these are subtracted from the building.
    • The Internet firewall cannot have a precise system of SCAN for each type of virus that may arise in the files that pass through it, because the firewall is not an antivirus.
    • The firewall cannot offer any protection once it crosses the aggressor.
