File Locking on Windows Server 2003 Shares (Snow Leopard)

I am working in a small company for Help Desk. There are some Mac users who are scattered in few departments. We have replaced about 8 old Macs that were running Leopard with the new that runs Snow Leopard. We are using the Windows Server 2003 file server to connect these users to network. They are given full permission for sharing.

Problem is that when those users try to delete, move, rename or perform any action on any folder then they get problem to do that. Whenever they try to do that then it shows a pop up message that he is a local user or sometimes it gives message that "You don't have permission to rename the item” They have provided the administrator's credentials but still they are getting such messages. If you have any suggestion that can help me to solve this problem the n please post your su7ggestion here so that I can solve the problem.

    Thank you.

You should try to replace the smb.conf file which is there in the Snow Leopard with the smb.conf file from the Leopard. This file is a configuration file for the Samba suite. A samba program requires the runtime configuration and this file provide that runtime configuration. The swat(8) program uses this file to configure and administrate. Just replace that file as said and see whether it lets the issue out or not?

You can check this with the use of the iMac that is not bounded on the domain. There may be the problem with the domain set up and that is not configured properly. Just check that without domain and see whether it allows you to delete or modify the files or not. If it allows then this will give you clear idea that it is the problem with the domain setup and you can go for the solution accordingly.
