    Re: Cannot manually update: MSE

    MSE does not necessarily put into effect to date. The effectiveness of the system depends on the conditions, and thus the machines, according to several parameters which are unfortunately not very well identified. In summary, the symptom is: the software indicates that the antivirus databases are updated so they are not. Proof: if you click on the button manually update, a new version is downloaded. MSE appears to have actually a lot of difficulties with machines that come out of standby, since the software does not really control in the wake if it is current. Microsoft has not yet spoken on the subject, but it will do something: it would be quite useless to put forward if the MSE is not to catch the updates that are ready for him.

    There will be little to describe in this tab but be aware that this is probably one of the most important. If you opted for a manual update of your virus database, you will have regular access to this tab and click the button Update. We still recommend you opt for the automatic update of virus databases from the tab Settings Section Automatic analysis, Second box checked. Normally, everything is already set. In all cases, we recommend you leave checked the 3 boxes in this section, you'll be quiet.

    Microsoft Security Essentials is available in several versions. A version for Windows XP 32-bit, Windows 7 and Windows Vista 32-bit and one for Windows 7 and Windows Vista 64 bit. If you use Windows 7 or Windows Vista and you do not know if your system is 32 or 64-bit, follow the handling following. If you use Windows XP you can skip to the next step.
    1. On the Windows desktop, click the right mouse button on the icon Computer. If it is not there, click the button Start then click the right mouse button on Computer.
    2. In the menu that appears, click Properties.
    3. Scroll down general system information that appears to the topic System.
    4. Line System type tells you if your Windows is in 32 bits or 64 bits. Here, our system is 32 bits.
    5. Finally close the window General system information.

    yoo need to install the correct version of the basic set of Microsoft security antivirus and spyware definition updates, you need to know if Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 runs in 32-bit or 64-bit operating environment. In addition, you must be logged into Windows as administrator. If you are unsure of your Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows type 7, or if you need help verifying that you are an administrator on the computer. You must run a 64 bit version of Windows to run 64-bit version of Microsoft Security Essentials. 64-bit versions of Windows include x64 versions of Windows.

    You need to Click Run to install the definition file update immediately. Or, click Save to save the file to your computer. If you click Save , Remember the folder where you saved the file. To install the saved file, follow these steps:

    * Windows XP:

    Double-click the file and click OK .
    * Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    Right-click on the file, then click Run as administrator . If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or click Continue . When the definition update file runs, a dialog box appears extracting file. The dialog indicates that the updated definition is being installed. After closing the dialog file extraction, you can check that the definitions of viruses and spyware have been updated. To do this, open the database to Microsoft security, click update and then examine the state of virus definitions and spyware.

    Re: Cannot manually update: MSE

    MSE Update Utility is a simple application that updates the software Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) when Windows Update is disabled. Windows Update is responsible for updating often MSE. But once it is disabled via Group Policy Editor, MSE will no longer be updated. Microsoft's idea is a fusion of update MSE with Windows Update is probably the main drawback and the workaround that until today, was to manually update the latest virus definitions. Since the virus definitions of the MSE are updated almost daily, updated manually was pretty boring. This is where MSE Update Utility comes in. In the main window, you can select the update interval, there are four options available - daily, weekly, monthly or startup. We recommend choosing the update daily or leave in place the default.

    Re: Cannot manually update: MSE

    MSE requires that Windows Update is quite active and a legal version of Windows, otherwise it will not work correctly. Verify that Windows Update is on (not disabled by a third party or a virus already present)
    - To have a functional Windows with Guenuine
    If the dysfunction persists, it may be wise to download the latest version on the official Microsoft site, and as I'm cool I give you the URL:
    http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/
    Indeed, recently, Microsoft have released a new version.Click the big button "Download Now" to download the appropriate Windows sound.

    - Install
    - Update.

    The scheduled task can be a preferable solution. Just create a scheduled task launching periodic
    Code:
    "% ProgramFiles% \ Microsoft Security Essentials \ MpCmdRun.exe"-SignatureUpdate
    With the user:

    * Windows XP: NT AUTHORITY \ SYSTEM (Or System).
    * Windows 7: NT AUTHORITY \ SYSTEM.
    * Where if the position is single user, with the account of it.
