    Microsoft Security Essentials is a free antivirus proposed by Microsoft. For those interested, you can find it here (XP/Vista/7 Windows, Windows validation required). If you use this software on your home computer, you should not encounter any problem to download the latest antivirus databases. By cons, if you are behind a proxy (as so often in companies, groups, etc.), it may be that the proxy is in place. In this case, you may encounter a message with an error like " code 0x80072ee2« . Even if you check your proxy settings in Internet Explorer, for example, and everything looks good, Microsoft Security Essentials does not take into account (obviously) this information. To solve this problem, open a DOS command prompt and type:
    proxycfg-p ip:port
    where ip and port correspond to the correct settings.
    This manipulation made the download of updates should be done safely then.

    re: Proxy Settings for Microsoft Security Essentials

    This question was posed to me numerous times this week and I'll tell you the procedure for handling this simple but overlooked by beginners.

    * Open Internet Explorer
    * Click on Tools
    * Internet Options
    * Go to the Connection tab
    * Then click on LAN Settings
    * Under Proxy server fill out the fields in the ip address
    * Then the port is 8080
    * And then press OK
    * Then click Apply
    * and Ok

    Restart Internet Explorer and the operation is finished!

    On the Administration Server and Messaging Server, follow these steps:
    * Make sure the forward lookup zones and reverse have been correctly migrated.
    * Confirm that the zones and reverse lookup have been integrated into Active Directory as the main areas.
    * Delete the existing name servers of zones and reverse lookup.
    * Add a CNAME record for WPAD.
    * Remove all forwarders.
    * Confirm the presence of root hints.
