    What does 'Abis interface' mean?

    Hello,
i have a question about the A-bis interface in the GSM network (the connection between BTS and BSC). You know in which frequency range this radio links in DL be operated? Can you please provide more information on the same. any kind of info is appreciated. Thank you for your help in advance.

Usually at 24 to 38 GHz, over large areas with higher Capacity (eg, between MSCs, or MSC to the BSC), sometimes even at 7 GHz. I do not know much about this, but this will definitely help you.

Quite normal radio systems from Ericsson (Mini Link), Allgon, Marconi or other manufacturers as built, is on their websites as a lot of info to find. The data rates are always higher, because of better-developed stations and because of UMTS, which has more Bandwidth for the connections needed.

I also called a "network builders" have: Individual cells are short-haul links at 22 GHz to a "local area" together. The cross-linking DL by going on long distance links at 7GHz.

The Abis interface is between the BTS and BSC. Transmission occurs on ties MIC (pulse code modulation) to 2 Mbps. The standard of this interface is not rigorously enforced by the manufacturers. On the Abis interface, the signal may have multiple origins and multiple destinations, so there is need to distinguish the messages exchanged between the BTS and BSC and signaling directly exchanged between the mobile station and the BSC.

The Abis interface supports messages of different types:
Higher ยท Messages that are exchanged between the mobile and the network.
    - Messages supervision and maintenance of the BTS.
    - Messages internal data link BTS - BSC.

All these messages are discriminated against in the layer 2 using the service access points SAPI. The different values of SAPI used on the Abis interface are 0 for signaling, 62 and 63 for the administration to manage the connection. Each TRX within a BTS corresponds to one or more signaling links. These links are distinguished by TEI (Terminal Equipment Identities) and LAPD frames are exchanged between a BSC and the TRX particular.

Re: What does 'Abis interface' mean?

On the Abis interface, it is important to differentiate the messages exchanged between the mobile station and the BSC one hand, and the messages exchanged directly between the BTS and BSC on the other. All posts RR are thus "brought" to the BSC (or to the mobile station) by the protocol messages corresponding RSL. When raised from measurements made by the mobile station, the various entities involved are the MS, the BTS and BSC. The message RR Measurement Report transiting the BTS is transparent to it because it makes no interpretation. It adds the measures it has undertaken on the uplink and then built the message RSL Measurement Result with all measures: uplink and downlink, the latter being sent to the BSC. This is known as the encapsulation process measurements made by the mobile sent to the BSC.
