How to switch from Norton to McAfee

I have two computers, one being supplied with McAfee security package which I am very satisfied with and has renewed the license, the other has a similar package from Norton (which I consider to be a bit fussy) that expire at the end. Automatic renewal of Norton is not active.

I see I'm saving some money to have two licenses of McAfee instead of one of them and one of Norton, and wonder why if
    - I can safely and easily log on to McAfee with the computer I want to change the security program, extend my contract from one to two machines, download software and install?
    - Do I in any way to uninstall or disable Norton before installing McAfee to avoid conflicts, or fixes your McAfee installation program that?
    - If I need to uninstall Norton before installing McAfee, I should make sure that your computer is not online while I uninstall old and install again to prevent any attack in seconds/minutes the machine is unprotected?

You must first uninstall one before installing the other, or it may cause conflict. It does not matter if you are not protected in between. However why do you want to pay such high fees for a program that does not give you better solution than Avast or Avira. Although MSE does it many times better than Mcafee. I'm talking not just about "Insane protection" but also it saves you money

Yes, I can, of course, consider the free alternatives - either immediately, on the one machine I'm now considering to switch on, or both when it is time to pay money for McAfee.

But then I need advice on which free programs that gives me anti-virus, firewall, security of web pages, etc. and where to safely download them. And I have to feel relatively confident that the advice I get is plausible. I am a bad date with freeware these days, and will not risk to download a Trojan that claims to be a security package, but actually hijacks your computer and do bad things.

Using a program I'm familiar with and trust, and after all does not cost more than $500 a year, is a cheap insurance.

Do not rely on one single program. You just trust that you will be more secure than without it because if you rely 100% on one program you will get slam a day. If you have paid for Mcafee license use it, most of which performs tests on youtube and have a little higher than the general knowledge of virus protection says that Mcafee's Home license does not meet the requirements for general protection but also says that the dems enterprise version is quite good.

You do not have a package that offers web protection also, clear cloud DNS is fantastic, it blocks malware pages I have the load on them from malwaredomainlist but the downside is again block pornographic content on any pages that may have ExternE links to infected sites. It works better than Norton DNS and Mcafee's web filter. For example, you could have used Malwarebytes, MSE or Avast with clear cloud DNS. The firewall could be built into the Avast, or Comodo Firewall is so far the best firewall surely the most fussy too.

In order to remove/uninstall Norton, you need to have Norton Removal Tool. To get this tool simply visit http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_...080710133834EN, choose your product and follow the steps provided in the target page explaining how to remove your Norton product. It is recommended to use this tool in order to remove all the files and traces of Norton from your computer. It will also remove all registry entries that was created during the installation time. Once done, just install Mcafee and you’re done.

The concept of switching from Norton to McAfee is very clear. You first uninstall your Norton product from the control panel - Add/Remove Programs and then reboot your computer. Once you have booted into Windows then you click on McAfee setup file and follow the wizard for the installation process. Once you have completed the installation process, you will again be asked to restart your computer.
