I thought about this problem and i get the solution that first go to the ' Local area connection properties' in windows and then click on to the 'install' button.after doing this select the 'Protocol' and after selecting the protocol click on the 'Add' button and after this select the protocol which is missing and click on the OK button .Try this out .If you have further queries then reply me back.

You First go into your LAN's property window and Click on the 'Install' button to add the missing TCP/IP components, however the system will require you to insert windows operating system CD for completing the installation.Once you are done with this you can configure TCP/IP settings and connect to Your network.Hope this will solve you queries .

Problem : No Internet Connection via Browsers Only

    Re: Media Disconnected

BUT Thunderbird email works as well as ping just not the browsers to connect to the INTERNET.

Using Vista Home Premium up to date via WIRED Ethernet (which works fine in Linux dual boot).

Do you have any firewall software installed on your computer? May be it is blocking your internet connection on your browser. May be your firewall is not allowing your browser to connect internet. Check it and if it the case then add it to allow for internet connection. Also check for the same in Windows firewall.

Re: Lan working on laptop but Browsers not connect to the internet

    Hi,

The media disconnected msg on ipconfig shown above seems to be part of the problem.

I write this on the very same laptop in Linux (Dual Boot) so the firewall on the router and Linux are ok as are the Cable and nic.

The problem seems to be Vista some configuration...

I tried the following but does not work...

    (1) In Device Manager checked and uninstantiated and reinstalled my Realtek drivers,

    (2) reset Vista & Router to default Firewall / Network config (Linux works not Vista),

    (3) Vista connects to the Internet via Thunderbird email and Windows Update works, Ping works,

JUST NOT THE BROWERS ( HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP lol )

No my firend, the media disconnected msg is a normal. It appears because you are not using those connection. However I think "Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : domain.invalid" is the actual cause of your problem. Go to command prompt and type "ipconfig/all". In the result, look for "Primary DNS Suffix". Check what it is listed and do post back it here.

check lan settings in Internet options in control panel or in IE, if its using a proxy server you never set, it will effect other browsers (Chrome,Mozilla)
