Failure to 'see' Network Attached Storage (NAS) in Windows 7

I am using Network Attached Storage (NAS) in Windows 7. After the boot on the CD and a few lines of operation and more, we find ourselves faced with this minimalist interface reminding us that we have to do , its version , IP address , and the FreeNAS console setup. The menu even if I find light , we offer all the options necessary to configure access to the web interface : ip address , Access code . Please help.

To access the admin must enter the IP address chosen earlier in a web browser and no need to enter specific port for the web interface is assigned to port 80. I tested with IE and Firefox and it works perfectly . A login and password you will ask to install the login is "admin "and password is ' FreeNAS ' . For security reasons, please change the login and password as soon as possible. Once inside the interface, we are faced with a page containing all the basic information of your machine with some very important as the host name , use memory and disk usage . At this stage we can not see disk usage because none is yet formatted and mounted.

The NAS server allows access from multiple servers based on the files . This allows administrators to easily implement and cost allocation systems load ( The payload ( payload English, and the payload ) is what is actually transported by means of ...) and fault tolerance .
    For example :
    * Email system with multiple servers and load balancing
    * Web servers load balancing accessing the same content from a NAS
NAS increases safety of data on it by :
    * RAID disk failure allowing lossless
    * simplicity of the operating system and applications present reducing the number of security holes
NAS servers sold by publishing companies software (A software program or application is a set of programs that enables a computer or a computer system ...) adds to the safety of the system the principle of security by obscurity has proved false.

Most NAS solutions are equipped with several disks to implement RAID solutions as noted above. Being dedicated to the backup, RAID 1 (Duplication of identical files on two disks) and some RAID 5 are supported by the NAS. RAID 0 is possible if you are looking for performance. The Ethernet interface gigabyte (1000 Mbps) allows use of hard lately, even in RAID 0, with full speed. SATA drives in RAID 0 you can achieve enormous speeds of around 100MB / s which is the interface speed gigabyte.

A NAS ( Network Attached Storage ) hard drive uses autonomous and shareable plugged into an Ethernet network. The advantage to a server is mainly the price , no user licenses to pay. By cons , a NAS does not share an application , such access simultaneously to a database. The series of Maxtor Shared Storage II can be seen as an external hard drive that can be accessed via an Ethernet network 10/100/1GB (so as a NAS ) and as a simple external hard drive connected a USB ( 2 ports on the box). Its configuration is done using an interface HTML as a standard NAS. By cons , it comes with a software install Windows XP or MAC can be automatically copied data on the disk within a specified time in advance.

The drive also has an FTP server that allows the transfer of large files over the Internet. Set all these functions and many others , including a BitTorrent client to upload and share large data files securely via a Web interface , simply by using your browser. Protect your movies, music, photos and other files using Nero BackItUp 4 Essentials which includes backup and restore full system with a password protection option.
