Creating a LAN network

Actually me and my friends are staying in the same building and we want to connect our Pc's through a LAN network with each other. Will u please tell me how to create a LAN network and how to connect the personal computer through the LAN in a campus like in a building, school & offices .And what is the hub and switch.

LAN stands for 'local area network' which can be created within a limited area. And it has many advantages :
1.you can share the files easily using this networking method.
2.You can share the resources within the network.
3.And can share the games with each other.
It costs very low. you need the following hardware to create the LAN network.
computers running with windows, RJ45 cables, Ethernet cards, and hub to connect the RJ45 cables.By connecting these things with each other you can connect your PC's within the LAN network.

For a LAN connection you need RJ45 cables to be set in the proper order from left as follows:

white orange
orange
white blue
green
white green
blue
white brown
brown

after this step the next step is connect all the cables to the switch of each computer's network.

start-control panel-network places-network connection-network places-TC/IP protocol-after following all the above steps enter IP address from first computer.

There are many types of HUB
1.Ethernet hub which is used in computer networking through which we connect many computers simultaneously in a network.
2. USB hubs are used to connect the several USB's in a single port.
3.Active hub it is a type of Ethernet hub.
4.Hubs & authorities used for ranking the web pages.

You can connect many computers through a network within a school, building, and an office by using LAN networking method. For this type of connection you need RJ45 cables by which you can connect the switches of each computers. There are many type hubs in computing Ethernet hub,active hub. Switches are the hardware which are used to connect multiple computers in local area network(LAN).
