    Slow wireless speed BEFW1154 Router

Hello! I need some help! Currently have a Linksys wireless BEFW1154 router. Once PC is hooked up directly to it, the second is wireless (desktop with a wireless card).

The wired PC is fine, very fast, works well.

The issue is with the wireless desktop. It is SLOW! The speed shows 11Mbps on the bottom right of the screen. Is that good?

I'm not sure, but I've used this router with many other computers in the past wirelessly, and the speed was fine. Never had an issue with it.

The signal strength is Excellent, but it's still slow.....

Any ideas why? I remember back in the day I had called Linksys and they changed a few settings like the RTS threshold to make it faster, but I lost the settings they gave me.

Can anyone give me some advice?

Re: Slow wireless speed BEFW1154 Router

I think that the Wan port on your router is the root of problem here. If you have a BEFW11S4 v1, v2 or v3 then your bottle neck is the Wan port. It is a 10Base-T Half Duplex slow as always and the BEFW11S4 v4 is listed as having a 10/100 full speed wan port. So any new router G or N will fix you slow wired speeds.
