Device drivers, programs that load at startup (such as antivirus and firewall software), or even screen savers, are the most frequent causes of interruption of defragmentation, and the display a message like "... on the drive has changed. For security, disable them all by restarting your computer in safe mode (F8 before there appears the first screen of Windows).

If you are unable to defragment your hard disk , Here's how to fix it.
    • Be sure to have 15% to 20% of free disk space in order to defragment.
    • Run ScanDisk tool that will check the status of your hard drive and correct any mistakes. Open the desktop, right click on the disk problem, properties, tools tab, select "Check Now". Check the 2 boxes.
    • Try to defrag in safe mode. To access it, press the F8 key during startup of the computer.
    • Try to defragment with alternative software such as Diskeeper .
    • Delete temporary files and / or unnecessary errors and fragments of files with the utility CCleaner .

To defragment your hard disk needs some space on your diskdrive. If the diskdrive is full or almost normal defragmentation does not occur. Make your household already typing diskdrive *. tmp search and delete all temporary files and the programs that you do not use and also remember to ensure that there is space of about 15 % of your actual data.

    3. Restart the computer
    4. Watch windows check disk.

Try to defragment the hard drive in the safe mdoe since this will allow you to defragmnt your hard drive. Moreover if you are still not able to defragment in the safe mode i would suggest you to use thordparty application like the advanced defrag which can be downloaded from the following link http://www.techarena.in/download/har...nceddefrag.htm
