Hp pavilion 9000 wireless won't connect

Hello there, I have a HP pavilion 9000 laptop which is installed with Windows XP. I have a linksys wireless router for connecting to Internet but now the HP laptop is not able to connect to the router using wireless. The wireless assistant on the laptop is now shown and hence I cannot search or connect to any wireless network. Is this some hardware failure or some virus issue? Please suggest some solutions about the topic. Thanks in advance.

As the wireless assistant is not seen on the computer, it is possible that the operating system is having some issues, therefore I would suggest that you repair the windows installation on the computer and see if the problem is solved or not. If repairing the windows installation does not help then try and install a fresh copy of Windows installation on the computer.

It is possible that the system is corrupted with some virus which is creating some issues while connecting to the wireless network. Download some latest antivirus and scan the full system for any virus infections. Repair the infected files and then check if the Wireless network is working on the computer or not.

You have mentioned that the wireless assistant is missing on the computer hence you can download the latest version of the Wireless assistant from the official website of HP and then install it on the computer. After installing the Wireless assistant on the computer, check if the wireless connectivity is working on the laptop or not.

Re: Hp pavilion 9000 wireless won't connect

Most of the laptops face the problem with the residual charge storage. Residual charge is stored near the motherboard of the laptop. If the residual charge reaches a threshold level then certain equipment will not work on the laptop. Therefore clear the residual charge and then check the performance. Shut down the laptop and remove the battery. Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds. Release the power button and replace the battery. Try to connect to the wireless network.

BIOS of the system is responsible for saving the booting information of the system. The oudated BIOS on the motherboard can create such problems. Go to manufacturers official website and then download updated the BIOS on the motherboard. Run the updated BIOS file from DOS prompt and then check the wireless connectivity.

As suggested, I downloaded the BIOS update for the laptop and installed it on the computer from the DOS prompt. After updating the BIOS on the laptop helped in improving the wireless connectivity on the laptop. Thanks for suggesting the solution.
