    Hybrid Network

Is this a possible Network Hybrid? I have been working on this and can't get it to work. I don't want the server for internet. If so, how do I implement? Thanks

Ok, what is the brand/model of your router? You have to manually configure your DNS and Gateway IP's. In the example I gave the gateway is 192.168.0.2, and the DNS servers you'll have to grab from your router. I believe you'll find that if you configure your network this way you'll have no problems browsing your Network Neighbourhood.

Thanks, looks like I won't be able to do it the way I want but really this isn't that bad.

    Re: Hybrid Network

Ok, I finally have a chance to work on this a bit. So I have a simple Linksys wireless router. I want to create a server/client based network. I like the setup that Shen put up. My question is how do I configure this. I understand the logic, but not so smart about the physical setup. I was hoping to keep my router as the dhcp and my server just use as file/print/media/active directory.

So, should I keep my dhcp from router to assign, then configure my dns through my server? will this allow my computers to still sign on to the domain?
