Ethernet Problem in New Macbook Pro?

I have recently bought a new Macbook pro which is installed with Mac OS X 10.6 on it. I have a linksys wireless router which is providing internet connection to all the devices. All the devices are able to connect to the router and access Internet but the new Macbook Pro cannot connect to the router. Whenever I try to connect the Macbook to the router it gives an error saying "Ethernet Deactivated, interface :en0". Is this because of the faulty hardware? Please help in solving Ethernet Problem in New Macbook Pro. Thanks in advance.

As the Macbook is recently bought, I will suggest that you take the Macbook to the nearest Apple Authorized service center and get it serviced. There is definitely some hardware issue with the Macbook due to which you are not able to access the Internet. All the apple products are covered with 1 year apple care warranty under which any fault to the device will be serviced for free.

Take a Cat5 straight cable and connect the router to the Macbook using the cable. Configure the TCP/IP settings on the Macbook. To configure the TCP/IP settings on the macbook, contact your ISP and check if you are able to access the Internet or not. If connecting the Cat5 cable is also not working, then you will have to get the Macbook checked for some hardware failure.

Have you performed a SMC reset? The new macbooks which are available are powered by Intel processors. SMC controls all the lower level function in the Macbook. If the SMC gets stuck while performing some tasks. If such a situation occurs then resetting the SMC is the only option. To reset the SMC, shut down the Macbook and remove the battery. Press and hold the power button for about 45 seconds. Replace the battery and see if the Ethernet is working properly on the Macbook or not.

Check the NIC of the Macbook using the software testing port. Every network
card has an software port which is configured for testing purpose. Hence ping the software testing port from the computer and check the data packet loss. If the NIC is faulty then there would be some data loss. If NIC is having data loss, replacing it will solve the problem.

The router has to be configured for the Macbook to connect to it. I will suggest that you get the required settings for the router from the ISP and configure the router as per the settings. Save the configuration of the router and then try to connect the Macbook to the router. If all the settings are proper then the Macbook will get connected to the router.
