FireWire Bus Unable to list FireWire devices

Hi-

I have a smooth running iATKOS 10.5.7 OS X install (dual-boot with WIN 7 Ultimate using BootThink v1); Almost everything works but my Firewire 400 port. Sys Profiler says:

FireWire Bus:
Warning: Unable to list FireWire devices.

and in verbose boot/ -s boot it defaults to full-secure as it is unable to determine firewire status, although it is detected.
I was told by someone on another forum that "It is not a kext problem. Your firewire is not getting IRQ in dsdt"...

How can I fix this?

Have you tried testing the FireWire port with some tools like Techtools Deluxe or Pro? You can also test FW functionality by using a Apple Hardware Test install disc. You can download the appropriate AHT from the Apple website from here. After downloading, you can burn to disc, and use that to test your hardware.

Well I haven't plugged anything in, but I have FinalCut Pro and that tells me as soon as I open the app that no FW is available/detected.
Oh none of the Apple Test Disk Images on that link are for MacBooks, mine's listed as a MacBook Pro 4,1

The problem is with the firewire. If you have exactly the same thing as me (start lasting longer than 5 minutes AND Firewire given as defective in the "system profiler" then do this:

Go to:
(Harddrive)> System> Library> Extensions

Find Everything That looks like IOFireWire *. kext

For Me, It Was the FOLLOWING:

IOFireWireAVC.kext
IOFireWireFamily.kext
IOFireWireIP.kext
IOFireWireSBP2.kext
IOFireWireSerialBusProtocolTransport.kext

Take these files and copy them somewhere else. (Then delete the originals)

Double check files are no longer thesis in (Harddrive)> System> Library> Extensions. If they're gone, Then restart your computer. It "should work great".

Cheers will try... are you running Leo or Snow? I have Leo 10.5.7. Boot doesn't take 5 mins though! Bit longer than it should (maybe twice as long as it should if it was OS X in its native environment)... in -v boot I can see why.. it tumbles on the FireWire yes, and on 'specific family matching fails' for USB etc (even tho' USB works fine). All those fixed drivers slow it down.

OK just did that... now Sys Profiler says:

'No Firewire devices detected'
