- Uninstall any previous version of Cisco VPN client that you may have installed
- Reboot
- Download and install the Citrix DNE Update.
- Reboot
- Take ownership and delete ndis.sys (in c:\windows\system32\drivers).
- Take ownership and delete ndis.sys.mui (in c:\windows\system32\drivers\en-us).
- Make sure you have Cisco VPN Client 5.0.4.0300
- Install the Cisco VPN Client
- Reboot
I had tried installing Cisco VPN client using the above method but it gives me a bluescreen after reboot. I have tried using DNEupdate and tried the VPN client up to 5.0.04.xxxxxxxx. It also won't let me go into safe mode. What could be the cause of this problem?
Have you tried installing it in Vista compatibility mode? However if you are using x64 version then for your information Cisco has not yet produce x64 version of VPN client for Windows. In such situation use VPNC with the VPNC Front End which works for 64bit operating system.
Hi big fish or someone who would like to help me.
I have to install Cisco VPN client on my Windows 7 computer, 64 bit. How can I do this? I am reading in the web that Cisco does not support 64 bit. Is this possible? Is there any workaround to resolve the issue?
Please help
Thank you,
Cecilia.
I am afraid that there is no work around to install the Cisco VPN client on the 64 bit system as Cisco VPN client only supports 32 bit operating system. You will have to use 32bit operating system to install cisco VPN client.
FYI: Cisco VPN Client adds support for 64-bit Windows Vista and Windows 7 as of release 5.0.7. Windows XP 64 bit is not supported, and there is no intention to ever add support.
