Unable to Ping Exchange Hostname in VPN

hi i am having issues with exchange server when connected to VPN.
i have asa 5450 and im using asdm to configure.
i am using cisco vpn client.

if i ping the hostname of the exchange server it resolved to a public ip address all with request timed out. but if i ping using IP address all reply.

funny thing is that if you modify anything in the vpn adapter under control panel (remove or add) it successfully pings the hostname of the exchange.

running out of ideas now. DNS servers are all configured. please help

I am not sure but if you perform manual IP setting on over the VPN client before making any connection with the DNS Server. Also let me know whether you are using the WINS or not. Make a check for the default gateway. Check for all the above and see whether this is working for the VPN Client connection or not.

Hi jacek tnx for the promptresponse.. Yes i am using wins server..after connecting to vpn i can see that my vpn adapter under pc control panel statically assugns ip add subnet mask gateway dns server and wins..all if the info found from afapter was set from asdm launcher..

One thing funny us if you remove add the dns suffix it will resolve to our exchange server..tnx

One more thing..after connection to vpn i can do telnet to all my dns servers..one of my friend told me that its a routing issue tnx
