    Encryption on L2TP Network Server

    Hi,
What is best for security implementation on L2TP based Network Server. I am working on L2TP Network Server where I have number of users. The data in received and sent via a mail box. I need to provide some better encryption support on the network. For that IPSec is one choice. What are the other policies which are implemented on the same. Thanks in advance.

The traffic is then transferred to the L2TP network server. They provide the channels for all fractionation protocols based on PPP. The lake is the issuer of incoming and outgoing calls the recipient. The protections offered by IPsec is based on choices defined in a database of security policy. This database is established and maintained by a user, a system administrator or application development up by them. It can decide, for each packet, it will provide security services, it will be allowed through or rejected.

The network server or L2TP LNS can operate on any platform that supports the termination PPP. The LNS handles the L2TP server side. L2TP uses only one carrier, which arrived channels L2TP. Therefore, the network server LNS, can have only one LAN interface (LAN) or wide (WAN). They are however able to terminate calls from any interface of the Access Concentrator PPP Lake

Ipsec is a protocol designed to secure the exchange of data at the network layer. The IPv4 network is widely deployed and migration to IPv6 is inevitable, but still long, it seemed interesting to develop techniques to protect data common to IPv4 and IPv6. These mechanisms are commonly referred to as IPSec for IP Security Protocols. IPSec is based on two mechanisms.

The first AH for Authentication Header is designed to ensure the integrity and authenticity of IP datagrams. It provides no confidentiality by cons which is, the data provided and transmitted by this protocol are not encoded. The second, Esp for Encapsulating Security Payload can also provide authentication data but is primarily used for encrypting information.

Re: Encryption on L2TP Network Server

The mechanisms mentioned above are of course using cryptography and therefore use a number of parameters (used encryption algorithms, keys, selected mechanisms) on which third parties communicating must agree. To manage these settings, IPsec uses the concept of security association (Security Association, SA). An IPsec security is a connection simplex which provides security services to the traffic it carries. It can also be seen as a data structure used to store all parameters associated with a given communication.

An index of security settings (Security Parameter Index, SPI). An SPI is a block of 32-bit registered clear in the header of each packet exchanged, he was chosen by the receiver. To manage the associations active securities, I use a database security associations (Security Association Database, SAD). It contains all the parameters for each SA will be consulted on how to treat each packet received or to be issued.
