Hi everyone. I purchased a WRT160n Linksys router because our ISP has a static address. I've pulled up the webpage (192.168.1.1) and tried to set up as a static ip. It accepts the changes and then just hangs. I'm running Vista 64-bit. I enabled DHCP and started the first address at 192.168.1.100
Static ip: 192.168.1.15
subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.20
DNS: 205.171.3.65; 205.171.2.65
I set the router IP to 192.168.2.1. It accepts and then hangs. When I try to go to a new tab in the browser and pull up 192.168.2.1, it won't connect.
I set the router IP to 192.168.1.2 and it gives error "router ip equals subnet mask".
So then I tried the install software which doesn't even GET to the IP settings page. It hangs at the page where you connect the power cord, even tho it's plugged.
I tried swapping out the Cat5 cables to make sure that isn't the problem. The router will power on and I can get to the web page. I'm having to reset the router to get to the web page to try again.
Any ideas what I should try?
