I have the dreaded virtumonde.sdn

Seen a few threads on this particular nasty but none of them were for Windows XP home edition Service Pack 3.

Would the meathod of removal be the same? Also is there a low risk meathod of removal that wouldn't wreck my PC?

Did you checked over here: How to Remove Virtumonde.sdn? It provides a lot of solutions on how to get rid of virtumonde.sdn virus. However other than that you can even try out system recovery to toss the virus from your computer. Malwarebytes is also a good malware remover which solves a lot of virus issues most of the time.
