The network interface card is responsible for establishing and maintaining the connection to the network. Hence if the network interface card is faulty then the laptop will not be able to access the router. You can check the NIC by pinging the software interface port of the NIC. All the network cards are configured with one software testing port. To test the NIC, click on Start and select RUN. Type "Ping 127.0.0.1" in the Run tab and hit enter. See if there is any loss while sending or receiving data. If there is any loss then you will have to replace the NIC of the laptop as it is faulty. |

I think the drivers for the network interface card is not installed due to which the laptop is not able to connect to the wireless network. For any device to work properly on the computer it requires some drivers to be installed on the computer. If the appropriate drivers for the network adapter are not installed then the device will not work properly. Go to device manager and highlight the network adapter. Follow the troubleshooting procedure if there is any caution sing. You can also try and update the drivers for the network adapter. |

Some laptops do not support all the wireless bands for communication. If the router is using the band which is not supported by the NIC of the laptop then the communication will not occur properly. Therefore try changing the channel on which the router is broadcasting. First check the channels which are supported by the laptop and change the channel of the router accordingly. Once the channel of the router is changed, see if the laptop is able to connect to the router. |

As you have bought the laptop recently, I will suggest that you take the laptop to the authorized service center of Toshiba and get it checked as I suspect that the laptop is having some hardware problem. Take the laptop to the authorized service center and get it checked. If there are any problems with the laptop, it will serviced for free if the laptop is under warranty. If the laptop is out of warranty then you will have to pay for the service charge including the cost for the hardware which is replaced. |
