Avast 5 WebShield slowing down web surfing

Recently i have installed the Avast 5 WebShield and i think that this is slowing down my web surfing or browsing speed. For your information i am using a dell desktop installed with windows 7. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this problem i would really appreciate any help in this matter.

The web shield makes internet run somewhat slowly because the web shield consumes a lot of your internet speed by simply checking whether all the links which are displayed are stable or not. If you are very much concerned about your speed then i think you simply need to disable the WebShield and you are done.

So it appears to be slow but actually speaking it is not slow it scans the list of websites and check whether the website is malicious or not.
