Check the configuration of the router first. I think the router is not configured properly and hence it is getting stuck. For the router to work properly, it should be configured properly. To check if the router is configured properly or not, login to the router and then open the configuration page. Contact the ISP and get the correct configuration settings for the router. Configure the router according to the settings. If there are any settings to be changed, make the changes and save the configuration of the router. Reboot the router and see if the network works properly.

The encryption of the network must be conflicting and hence the router is getting stuck. The Toshiba satellite laptop only supports WPA encryption and not WPE 128 encryption. Hence if the wireless network which you are using is having WPE 128 encryption then the router will give such problems when the laptop is connected. Login to the router and open the configuration page. Check the encryption of the network and if it is WPE then change it to WPA and try to connect the laptop to the router. See if the problem continues or not.

Have you tried changing the wireless band on which the network is working? All the laptops do not work properly on the Wireless N band and hence can give problems if forced to work on Wireless N band. Check if the laptop is capable of working on Wireless G band and changed the Wireless band from N to G of the router. After changing to Wireless G the signal strength will also improve which will reduce the connection dropping rate. Therefore change the wireless band and see if it works.

All the devices which are connected to the computer require a set of drivers to be installed on the computer to work properly. Drivers act as the mediator between the operating system and the device. Therefore if the appropriate drivers for the network adapter are not installed then the device will not work properly. Go to device manager and check if the drivers are installed and working on the computer. Follow the troubleshooting procedure if there are any caution signs. Try and update the drivers if the troubleshooting does not help.

Scan the laptop with some updated antivirus and check all the files which are infected. It is possible that the system is infected with some virus which is creating such problems. Virus's get downloaded while visiting certain website or while downloading certain data from the internet. Some virus's have the tendency to continuously broadcast data on the communication channel. If the communication channel get flooded the router may stop responding. Hence scan the computer and repair all the files which are infected. After repairing all the files which are infected, see if the network works properly.
