At a time when Ethernet was invented, computer chips have been produced by Intel. These chips has provided almost unlimited capacity for processing and transmission for servers and networks. At the same time, the software developed by Microsoft, have been swallowing all the processing power available. Network management is the main task in maintaining a balance between the ability of hardware and software consumption.

Re: Overview of the management of a network

The management of the network varies according to demand. There is no unique way that is applicable to all environments. However, there are some common elements that are applicable to almost all network applications. The definition of network management says this is a process to maximize the reliability and use of components of the network to optimize network availability and responsiveness. The question arises, which will be managed by this process? The answer is, it's the network. But this response is considered too vague. This becomes essential in large complex environments, where networks covering the whole world would vary depending on the topology, platform, protocols, security, and suppliers.

There may be infrastructure that is responsible for two classified and unclassified networks, with a wide variety of security requirements, supplier involvement , and government regulations. This should be a quick decision, since the network management is concerned. It is imperative to decide which elements of the management task would be administered by any department. For example, responsibility for managing the encryption could be entrusted to a government agency and the department's internal security organization could be responsible for managing network security, while the support service facility is managed by computer Operations Department, which administer network password and other allied tasks.

Each network environments vary according to its priorities, policies, costs and timing. major network infrastructure is just static, as far as its importance is concerned, the popularity and funding. There are constant changes that require the management team of network change management process. In this situation, quick decisions must be taken, and it is very necessary that these decisions regarding management changes or modifications made during the previous planning strategies are communicated to all parties concerned.

The owner of the network management process must be well versed in network operating systems, utility programs, software support, and key components such as switches, routers, hubs, and repeaters. The responsible person must be target oriented and have excellent skills in planning. It is desirable that the owner must have a thorough understanding of infrastructure software and hardware and the ability to analyze metrics.

Network management is completely a team effort, with people who should be ideally be required to be certified management system. There are certain measures that ensure informationmations on the effectiveness of network management is efficient. The effectiveness of the network could be seen from his service in the matrix, such as network availability, response times, network, and the time to connect. The process efficiency can be measured by the method of matrix, such as grid, outages caused by network design, maintenance, testing, carriers, non-standard devices, lack of training and negligence.
