To secure a system, it is necessary to identify potential threats, and therefore to know and predict the approach of the enemy. The purpose of this case is thus to outline the possible motivations of hackers, categorize them, and finally give an idea of their approach to better understand how it is possible to reduce the risk of intrusion. Security policy deployment add much help to it.

Computer security is usually five main objectives, the first is the integrity, that is to say, ensuring that data are those believed to be, the confidentiality of ensuring that only authorized persons have access to shared resources, availability, to maintain the smooth functioning of information system, the non-repudiation to ensure that a transaction can not be denied and the authentication of ensuring that only authorized persons have access to resources.

The authentication is to ensure the identity of a user, ie to guarantee each of its corresponding partner is who he believed to be. Access control may allow (eg through a password that will be encrypted) access to resources only to authorized persons. Non-repudiation of information is assured that no correspondents can not deny the transaction.

The security of a computer system is often the subject of metaphors. Indeed, compared to a regular channel in explaining the level of security of a system is characterized by the level of security the weakest link. Thus, a reinforced door is useless in a building if windows are open on the street. Check data integrity is whether the data have not been altered during communication (either accidental or intentional).

Re: Computer safety by security policy

The security mechanisms in place can still cause discomfort and user instructions and rules become more complicated as and as the network expands. Thus, the security must be designed in such a way that does not prevent users from developing uses that are necessary, and ensure that they can use the information system with confidence.
