What is the impact of 802.11n on WLAN security

    Hi all,

WLAN commercial development is much higher than the rate of growth, many things have started to pay attention, including the Safe 802.11n can extend network coverage and performance, but still need to be considered for better Safe issues. What is the impact of 802.11n on WLAN security

802.11n inherited WPA2 advantages and disadvantages. 802.11a/b/g and 802.11n devices use AES to prevent eavesdropping of wireless data frames, forged and re-send. 802.11a/b/g and 802.11n AP to use 802.1X access at the same time refusing to strange connection to authenticate the user. 802.11n, however, still can not stop the intruder sends spoofed management frames - this is a legitimate user or disconnect disguise "evil twin" APS of the attack. Check and reply.

What is the impact of 802.11n on WLAN security

802.11n This new device may contain undiscovered defects. For example, NETGEAR Inc. model for the WN802T Wireless Access Point (AP) The earlier version can not correctly parse the length of zero (null) of the SSID (WVE-2008-0010). There are, Atheros company were to use the new 802.11n wireless access point devices on the driver does not correctly handle certain management frames information unit (WVE-2008-0008). This kind of vulnerabilities are not uncommon; WLAN management staff need only to maintain security bulletin concerns and promptly update the firmware and drivers. All the best.

802.11n also includes a number of very complex option, which increases the possibility of configuration errors. For example, will exist a number of high-throughput data transmission channels, each one must ensure that its capacity and parameter combination at both ends match. In most cases, the wrong configuration will lead to a decline in performance - although does not look like a security issue, but it does can affect the availability. In some extreme cases, the error configuration 802.11n AP could lead to a number of neighboring WLAN denial of service attacks. Check and reply.

Re: What is the impact of 802.11n on WLAN security

802.11n introduced a number of new MAC architecture, which was found to have a framework can be developed in nature. 802.11n to use the module to make sure ensure that the number of data frames received, for streaming media applications provide effective support. Dos attack can be confirmed by sending a fake module to the receiver damage 802.11nWLAN. 802.11n WIPS can detect an attack, but the only way to prevent attacks is to stop using the add Block-ACK (ADDBA) function. All the best.

Re: What is the impact of 802.11n on WLAN security

The current wireless network security is still the best solution for 802.11n. However, the need to pay attention to is due to 802.11n in the broader context of supporting more users and applications, it still increased business risk. In short, there have been attacks on some of your business, what is even more devastating. For 802.11n, even better than the original 11a/b/g network more secure, will be the same as the original security. All the best.
