Data packet routing feature in Cisco

Cisco believes that if a general-purpose devices to send data, it should be called routers, although additional tasks on the device makes the routing performance retreated to the background. As long as it is in the Layer3 and destination information, based on the forwarding of data packets, it is the router. Check and reply.

The definition of the router to change. We believe that the Layer3 slightly on the router to replace the data, it will move into and out of the packet interface. Added an extra performance of the router can do the same thing, but different levels: Session Border Controller in Layer5 operate, application acceleration in Layer4 and Layer7, the firewall can be located on multiple levels. But all these works can be an interface where the treatment of mobile data, and replace the data to another interface. All the best.

Routing function has been over time and has been enhanced, but the core functions of the routing can not be changed. Only, such as MPEG-level video surveillance of these advanced services will not affect the routing function, then it is still the router. Or a router with more advanced services. Customers to buy routing, regardless of whether they use the new features or not, will not affect the transfer function was used. The key lies in the integrity of the platform architecture. This implies a router packet processing clearly separated for forwarding, control. Check and reply.

Cisco that a growing number of application hosting will increase the complexity of the device, but will not change its essence. Routers in the WAN and the LAN is still a bridge between the play equipment. Some operators to use the router to respond to the federal Networx RFP's "Service decided to equipment" argument. In fact, this is not the company does not agree with this view, the company provides DSL modem router is not higher than the complexity. Those who may have very expensive equipment, intelligent transmission capability. In the DSL modem, we can create ACLs, it is the wireless connection, and have the firewall functionality. It is doing far more than the transmission of data, but if you can not transfer the data is not a useful modem. Check and reply.
