Using IPCop for network protection

To get optimum security I had installed IPCop in my PC. I am using a Ubuntu PC as the main computer with 4PC connected to it. By this main PC all the other computerse shares printer and internet. So this becomes the major center for my data protection and other works. I just need an basic overview of this software and some minimal settings instruction for the same.

Re: Using IPCop for network protection

IPCop is a complete operating system based on an optimized Linux kernel is designed to Ensure the security of your network. In some part the working and configuration of this tool is bit complicated. But for network solution the tool ensures maximum protection from attacks. The best part of this tool is that it is an open source freeware tool.

Re: Using IPCop for network protection

The main goal of implementing IPCop is dedicated to security and basic services network. Having Scrutinized The principle of operation and installation of this system. The system tab of IPCop is concern to everything near or far the system itself, that is to say the testing and installing updates, changing passwords, backups, enabling the SSH access, and others.

Re: Using IPCop for network protection

In the network tab you can see the modem connections, because if the red interface is composed of a modem (not a router or modem router) you can configure and manage the connection of it in this menu tab. This is to specify the connection settings or install new drivers if your modem was not recognized during installation. The service that shows the number of services and configuration options for these, details will be furniture provided in a future issue. However you can read a brief description of services in our previous report devoted to the discovery and installation of IPCop.

Re: Using IPCop for network protection

I too use IPCop on my system which offers me best security options. Like any good firewall that respect, it is possible to disable the ping and open ports to let applications or even redirect them to more accurately (PAT Area for Port Translation). It is possible to create virtual private networks (better known as the VPN for Virtual Private Network) to connect the LANs of two IPCop. This menu allows you to set up these networks and monitor their condition.

Re: Using IPCop for network protection

This is the first page that appears when you type the address of the web administration interface of IPCop in the browser you can cut off all traffic passing through IPCop using the [Logout] (the connection is established automatically when starting the server), but also see how long the connection is established. Additional information on the red interface are available: host name on the ISP network, installation date last updated, also the server time and the number of users connected (to interface or SSH).
