How to delete PIF.Fable virus from my comptuer system.

My computer system is behaving in the abrupt manner, mean it is not working fine. My computer system is working really very slowly. When I scanned my computer system with help of AVG antivirus I received the alert message that PIF.Fable is found. I am trying to delete this PIF.Fable virus from my computer system but I am unable to do so. Can anybody help me to delete this PIF.Fable virus from my computer. If possible please also mention some of the preventive measures to avoid problems like these.
