| Toshiba Equium P200 Wireless issues
Hello friends, I have Toshiba Equium P200 laptop which is installed with Windows 7 operating system. I access Internet on the laptop by connecting it to Linksys Wireless router. The laptop was able to connect to the router when it had Windows XP operating system running on it. After installation of Windows 7 on the laptop, the laptop is not able to connect to the router. As I am not a networking person, I am not able to figure out what is causing such problem. Therefore If anybody else facing Toshiba Equium P200 Wireless issues, then please share some information. Any suggestions/solutions are welcome. Thanks in advance. |

First check if the router is working properly or not. If the router is not configured properly then the laptop will not be able to connect to it. Therefore connect the laptop to the router using Console cable and then login to the router. Once logged in, go to the configuration page and check all the settings which are entered. You can contact your Internet service provider and get the settings of the router. Check if the router is configured as per the settings. If there are any changes to be made, then do the necessary changes and save the settings. Reboot the router and then try to connect to the laptop to it. |

All the devices which are connected to the computer require set of drivers to be installed on the computer. If appropriate drivers for the device are not installed on the computer then the device will not work properly on the computer. Therefore check if appropriate drivers for the network adapter are installed and working properly on the computer. To check if the drivers are installed and working properly or not, go to device manager and highlight the network adapter. If there are any caution signs then follow the troubleshooting procedure. If troubleshooting does not help then try to update the drivers for the network adapter. |

The drivers which need to be installed on the computer for the network adapter are different for Windows 7. Lot of devices are incompatible with Windows 7 operating system. Due to this incompatibility issue, appropriate drivers for such devices are not available because of which the devices do not work in Windows 7. Therefore search for the drivers for the model of the network adapter which you are using which is compatible with Windows 7. Once appropriate drivers are installed on the computer, then try to connect the laptop to the router. |

If the DHCP on the router is not working properly, then laptop will not be able to connect to the router. DHCP is responsible for assigning IP addresses to the devices which are connected to the router using Wireless connection. DHCP assigns the IP address to the device from the pool of IP addresses which are available. If the DHCP is not working properly then the router will not be able to assign IP address to the laptop. Therefore connect the laptop to the router using console cable and open the configuration page of the router. Disable the DHCP and then enable it again. After enabling the DHCP on the router, connect the laptop to the router and see if you are able to access Internet on it.

| Re: Toshiba Equium P200 Wireless issues
The default IP version of Windows 7 operating system is IPv6 while the IP version of Windows XP is IPv4. The DHCP of the router will only assign IPv4 IP addresses as it was previously configured to work on Windows Xp. Therefore to connect the Windows 7 laptop to the router, you will have to disable the IPv6 support of the Windows 7. To disable the IPv6 support, open the network connection wizard and right click on LAN and select properties. Now open the TCP/IP properties and then remove the check mark from the option which says "Enable IPv6". Remove the check mark and save the settings. Now you will be able to connect the laptop to the router without any problem. |
