I would suggest you to check the configuration of the network. Sometimes the configuration of the network changes when some device is added or removed from the network. If the configuration of the network changes then all the devices will not be able to access or to connect to the router. Hence check the network preferences of all the devices on the network and then try to connect the laptop to the router. |

It looks like the router is not able to handle the traffic generated by number of computers connected to it and hence it is losing connectivity. Routers work on the algorithm. If the algorithm of the router is not smart enough then it will not be able to handle large traffic. To solve such problem, connect the router to the computer using console cable and then update the firmware of the router. You will have to download the latest firmware which is available for the model of the router which you are using. |

The default IP version of Windows 7 operating system is IPv6 while the default IP version of Windows XP is version 4. Therefore whenever two computers running on Windows Xp and Windows 7 are connected together on the same network then the protocol mismatch problem arises. To solve this problem you will have to disable the IPv6 support of Windows7. To disable the IPv6 support of Winodws 7, go to the TCP/IP properties and then remove the checkmark from enable IPv6. Once done save and apply the settings. Now you will not face the same disconnection problem. |

DHCP is responsible for assigning IP addresses to the devices which are connected to the router using Wireless connection. DHCP assigns IP address to the device from the pool of IP addresses. Disable the DHCP on the router and then reenable again. To disable the DHCP on the router, connect the router to the computer using a console cable and then login to the router. Once at the configuration page, disable the DHCP. To enable the DHCP again you will have to login to the router again. |
