This is a a common problem in which a base station that has long turned on and connected to the Internet holds an IP address (DHCP lease) for a period longer than that allowed by your Internet service provider. This is normal and not indicative of any problem with your Apple computer or your Internet service provider. If the base station in a place not easily unplug it, you can restart it using the AirPort Admin Utility or AirPort Utility. If your DHCP lease time seems too short, contact your Internet service provider to see if there are other problems on the network.

In certain types of networks can be useful to turn off and relight all equipment in the network. It may also be useful to unplug a few devices for up to 5 minutes, while it is true that 30 seconds is sufficient in most cases. Try unplugging the base station, routers and hubs or any cable or DSL modem. Turn off computers. Plug the cable or DSL modem first, if applicable. Plug the AirPort base station and second waits for the lights to cycle through the startup routine. This prevents another device from taking the DHCP lease. Third, turn on a computer.

Set up a computer to connect to the Internet directly, without the base station. Connect directly to the Internet without the AirPort base station.
If the connection is bad, check it is correctly configured. click the Wizard button in Network preferences. For earlier versions, see Mac OS X: Connect to the Internet, troubleshoot your Internet connection and set up a small network. If you are successfully connect, then disconnect the Ethernet cable from the computer and connect to the base station. Connect to the network base station and use the AirPort Setup Assistant or AirPort Utility to reconfigure it.

If you use a cable modem, unplug the power supply for at least 30 seconds to fully reset it. You can also press the reset button if it has one. Erasing the memory of the modem, you may address a situation in which certain types of cable modems require the MAC (media access control) of a previously connected device. In few cases, it is possible that the Internet service provider need to manually reset the address.

It is better to use the latest version of Mac OS, whether you have Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X. Use the control panel software update (Mac OS 9) or the Software Update preferences (Mac OS X) to install software updates. Some updates are an essential step for others, so you'll need to use several times the option to upgrade the software until no more updates to install.
