Hi,
I know there are many topology's such as Star, Bus, Ring but I want to know about Mesh topology. So can you tell me in detail, What is Mesh topology ?
The mesh topology is a topology of network in which each node is connected to all nodes. This makes it possible to carry messages from one node to another in different ways. If the mesh network is fully connected, there can be absolutely no interruption in communications. Each server has its own connections with all other servers. The establishment of a mesh network is a way to route data, voice and instructions between nodes. Mesh networks differ from other networks where the network elements (node) are connected all in all, through separate cables. This configuration provides redundant paths throughout the network so that if one cable fails, another will take over the traffic.
This topology, unlike others (like the tree topology and star topology), does not require a server or hub, thus reducing maintenance (a bug in a node is important or not, does not imply the collapse of the entire network).
Mesh networks are self-routable. The network can, even when a node disappears or the connection fails, because the other nodes avoid passing through that point. Consequently, the mesh network, it becomes a very reliable network.
It is an option for wireless networks (Wireless) to wired networks (Wired) and software interaction nodes.
Advantages of the mesh network:
- It is possible to carry messages from one node to another in different ways.
- There can be absolutely no interruption in communications.
- Each server has its own communications with all other servers.
- If a cable fails the other will take over the traffic.
- Does not require a central server node or reducing maintenance.
- If a node disappears or fails does not affect the other nodes.
Disadvantages of mesh network:
This network is expensive to install because it requires a lot of cable
Mesh networks are those in which all nodes are connected so that there is no precedence of a node over others in terms of concentration of communication traffic.
These networks are used in case of an iteration between two nodes or network terminal equipment, liaise with using another way which significantly increases the availability of links.
· Low efficiency of connections or links, due to the existence of redundant links.
· Link redundancy by having the advantage of enabling alternative paths for data transmission and thus increases the reliability of the network.
· Since each station is linked to all other exists independently of the previous one.
· Uneconomical due to the abundance of wiring.
· Control and implementation too complex but operates a very acceptable degree of reliability
The mesh topology is one of the network topology. It is a hybrid network structure incorporating cabling in a star grouping different network nodes. This type of network architecture is practically used for Internet networks. Unlike a star network, each hub can use several different routes to connect 2 computers with one another. This requires routers intelligent, called switch. Each router selects the communication line as soon as possible depending on the distance or traffic on a branch network.
