In the Windows 7 it is very easy to leave a home group so you don't have to worry about it. First make sure that you are ready to leave the homegroup. Now if you are ready then open the homegroup window and under the other homegroup option click on the leave homegroup link. It will ask for the confirmation one more time click on the Leave the Homegroup. That it you will get the message that you have successfully leave the homegroup. That it!!!!

Re: How to disconnect a machine from a Homegroup Network?

In windows 7 it is very easy to join a homegroup network as well as leave the same. But before leaving the homegroup make one thing sure that you have taken all the back up of the data that are necessary for the use of your so that when you need those data you don't have to again join the homegroup. Because after leaving the homegroup you have no longer access to any of the Homegroup machine. Thanks

If you decide that you no longer want to belong to a homegroup, you can leave it by removing your computer from it. After you leave a homegroup, you will no longer be able to access files and printers other people have shared with that homegroup. If everyone leaves a homegroup, it will no longer exist.
    1. Open HomeGroup by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, typing homegroup in the search box, and then clicking HomeGroup.
    2. Click Leave the homegroup.
    3. Click Leave the homegroup, and then click Finish.
