I have Mac Pro which is installed with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. I use Wireless connection to access the Internet. After Updating the operating system to the Snow leopard, the Mac Pro is facing many issues with Wireless connectivity. The connection to the router loses while surfing. I cant figure out if the Problem I am facing is due to the operating system or the Mac Pro. So if anybody is facing Issues With Mac Pro Wireless connectivity, share some information which may help me in solving the problem.

Are you sure that the link which is providing Internet connection is stable and is not responsible for disconnection? Many times it happens that the link which is providing the actual bandwidth from ISP to the user is flappy which results in frequent disconnection. Before doing any troubleshooting for the devices which are connected, be sure that the link is stable. Contact the service provider and ask them to check the link. If the link is proper then only do the required troubleshooting for the device which is creating problem.

    Re: Mac Pro Wireless Issues

Sometimes the router is not able to maintain the connection with the wireless device which is connected to it. There can be many reasons for the router not maintaining the wireless connection. If the router is not able to handle the traffic then it disconnects some of the devices which are connected to it. This is to make sure that the router does not fail fully. Therefore check the router and if it is old then try and upgrade the firmware of the router. If updating firmware does not help then you will have to replace the router I fear.

Try connecting the Mac Pro to the router using ethernet cable and then see if the connection to the Internet gets disconnected or not. Wireless communication can get hampered if there is interference in the signals which may also lead to disconnection. Hence connecting the Mac Pro using the Ethernet cable will ensure that the connection does not get disconnected due to interference. Connect the Mac Pro to the router using CAT 5 cable. Configure the IP address on the Mac Pro manually by going in to network preferences. Also put the default gateway as the IP address of the Router you are using. Save the settings and then see if the Mac Pro is getting disconnected or not.

If the problem started after the upgradation of the Operating system, then it may be because of the incompatibility of the Airport card with the Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Check if the Airport card which you are using is supported by the version of the Operating system which you are using. Also check if the drivers for the Airport card are working properly on the system. If the drivers are not installed properly then the Airport card will not work properly. Install the drivers if needed and then check if the problem with the disconnection continues.

    Re: Mac Pro Wireless Issues

The airport card which is installed in the Mac Pro is not integrated on the logic board. Instead it is mounted on the logic board and then connected to it using a connecting cable. If the connecting cable is not fixed properly, then the Airport card will not function properly. Open the Mac pro and check if the cable is fixed properly. To be sure , disconnect the cable and then connect it again properly. If the connecting cable was creating problem then fixing it properly will solve the problem.
