Gigabit network card and Windows 7

I bought a gigabit network adapter ExpressCard for my laptop. I installed it but it connects to my gigabit router in 100. At first I thought the cable problem and then I tried another that works with gigabit on my other PC, same. From what I could see it come to Windows 7. Someone would have any idea to solve my problem? Do I need to have some configurations to be done for my gigabit network card?

Could you be more specific about model type of your card, and your sources for the sake of just Windows 7? I never saw any referenced concern about the Gigabit ExpressCard management. I would think rather a concern related to your card or its drivers.

I am having Agere Systems ET-131x PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Adapter. The drivers was installed by Windows 7 (drivers provided earlier and giving the same problem). Regarding my source is Google, but basically they're gigabit problems in general, but not exactly there. I disabled the integrated card of the motherboard of portable power to be sure the problem was not with it.

I must admit I'm lost.

I have seen several PC running Windows 7 with Gigabit cards, but none had any worries. Could you see the driver options (in Control Panel, or you got the list of devices) if you are on autonegotiation mode or full duplex? If the that will be extended to find newer drivers, there's been nothing since 2008 apparently.

In the options I'm in auto-negotiation yes. I tried to force to the 1000 full duplex, but in this case, Windows says that the cable is not connected (very good cable I remember)

So if there's something more recent I am hearing

There were no other drivers after the one you have to my knowledge. Do not force especially in gigabit, for two reasons:

- When you force the speed necessary to force the two sides, switch and NIC. Your switch is probably not manageable, so it is not possible
- One can not give enough strength to gigabit, because it's ugly

You tried with a short cable to another port? Not because of your cable that could be bad, but because it may be that this card is not too "good."

I think your concern will simply set a different card.
