    Missing Plugins installed trojan

    Hi,
On internet when clicked on a video it asked for a missing plugin. I allowed it to installed. Then suddenly a antivirus warning popped up denoting that there is some viruses in my computer. I had clicked to scan the same. It installed something in my pc. But after that the pc became extremely slow and sometime restarts. What is this actually.

The technique does not change, the user is prompted to run a program (unhealthy in reality) to let the infection in the system. To view a clip from porn sites or at times humorous, you are asked to install a codec or ActiveX. The software installation required appears to be proceeding normally. But it is the infection that the user is running on his system.

This is true that plugins downloaded can put virus in your system. And the side effects were not slow to appear. First they create false security alerts. Then a modification of the screen. Then misuse of the homepage of the browser. You are prompted and force for installing unwanted fake security software (rogue) offering their services pay to clean the infection.

Whenever you are getting a free software first be sure about the tool. Then read the terms and conditions (the text written in huge little during installation). By abusing your confidence through the method of social engineering these publishers will infect your machine in order to earn the money with their free software. So just simply avoid this.

I have some list of adware which enters your system. They are GoRecord, HotTVPlayer, MailSkinner , Instant Access , sudoplanet, WebMediaPlayer, etc. Whenever you see some sites related to this and then always take care not allow them access to your system. Otherwise they will infect your computer and corrupt your windows. Once one of these programs installed, you will be overwhelmed by advertisements.

A very basic example of this is Flash player plugin. You have noticed many time whey you visit a video site they demand for a flash plug in. When you click on it the same redirects you to a site. Once you installed then you can face virus infection on your computer. Do not keep your firewall off. Keep your virus definition up to date to avoid such issues.
