Error 651: Unable to obtain ip address

I have several PC at home. Among which I have problem with my laptop, I was unable to connect to the internet. I still get the same error code 651, "Unable to obtain ip address" I'm in trouble and unable to rectify the actual cause of the problem. Where could the problem come from?

I had this problem one morning, unable to connect, same error message on a PC running Windows XP.

I tried and I tried many things without success. Probably a problem of IP address.

I called a computer repairman who came when I was at work. When I got home that evening my wife told me that he had boarded the tower and reinstalled Windows! He did it and saved some of my data only

If a laptop is new, get it done by your seller; there is no reason why the connection does not work! If it is a used PC and you have the cd system restore, do the same since there is nothing in risk.

Hi, do not take it badly but it's nice to see that I am not the only one to have this kind of problem. Have you made contact with numeric? In my day got a little progress, I reconfigured my IP address manually, DNS.... and now I'm connected, but when I click on internet explorer "page not available offline connection" when I click on the little icon bottom right "network connected...." it must miss something? Why I am not very happy with the help of a Numerical because you share a computer to send and pay some bugs plus you have a new portable!

Numerical, no more than other operators will not set your PC to log. They test the line and it is seldom that is involved or very punctual. As often, the problem lies between chair and keyboard! I actually think this is a problem of IP address but I think there must be a less radical reason. Go to command prompt and type "ipconfig/all" and press Enter.

I made all possible manual settings, I looked at ipconfig but nothing abnormal found, is there a solution about configuration? This is what I got:

If DHCP is disabled, try to switch back to dynamic IP, it may solve the problem.

Right Click on the LAN icon in the bottom right (taskbar) - Status - Properties - Tab General - Internet Protocol TCP / IP - Properties - Choose Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically.
